Research Statement
An overview of my academic project, its objectives, conceptual framework, and contributions to the fields of transnational citizenship, migration studies, and social transformations.
Project Overview
My research investigates the dynamics of transnational citizenship and the social, political, and cultural transformations that emerge through migration and mobility. It seeks to understand how individuals and communities negotiate belonging, rights, and identity beyond the nation-state.
The project combines sociological theory, political philosophy, and empirical analysis. It examines the ways in which borders, migration policies, and transnational networks shape citizenship practices and influence social integration across multiple contexts.
Research Objectives
- To analyze the evolving meanings and practices of citizenship in transnational settings.
- To explore diasporic experiences, identity formation, and political participation among migrants.
- To examine how mobility and borders influence social inequality and inclusion.
- To contribute to theoretical debates on post-national citizenship and sociological perspectives on migration.
- To make research outputs accessible via open-access repositories and independent academic platforms.
Conceptual Approach
This research adopts a critical and interdisciplinary perspective, integrating insights from sociology, political theory, and migration studies. It emphasizes the interaction between structural constraints and individual agency, highlighting how migrants navigate multiple social, legal, and cultural spaces simultaneously.
The approach also prioritizes knowledge production from and about the Global South, aiming to challenge Eurocentric frameworks while fostering inclusive academic discourse.
Expected Contributions
- Advancing scholarly understanding of transnational citizenship and cross-border political engagement.
- Providing empirically grounded analyses of migration, identity, and social transformations.
- Contributing to open-access knowledge repositories, enhancing visibility of Global South research.
- Supporting academic dialogue between institutional and independent research platforms.
- Informing policymakers and practitioners about the complexities of citizenship and mobility in contemporary societies.
Dissemination Strategy
Research findings are disseminated through peer-reviewed journal articles, academic books, working papers, and digital platforms. Open-access repositories such as Zenodo and OpenAIRE are prioritized to ensure broad visibility and accessibility.
Engagement in international conferences and scholarly networks complements written outputs, facilitating dialogue, feedback, and collaboration across disciplines and regions.
